EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES
World Music is more than ever being encouraged as a valid subject within The National Curriculum.
SYA aim to deliver unique programmes to schools, colleges and performance arts colleges,
introducing West African Drumming and Dance as a valid subject and cost effective alternative
to school field trips/outings.
Educational programmes aim to produce constructive, energetic sessions providing material which can be developed and integrated into school music and cultural themes.
Classes and workshop structure can be designed for a specific group environment with
time schedules to suit (school projects are usually 45/60 minutes per group leading towards a
possible group performance to complete the programme).
The minimum length for any of our educational workshops is a half-day however in some circumstances it is possible to arrange workshops to suit individual school requests.
Pupils are introduced and given the opportunity to learn traditional music and dance in its cultural context. All SYA activities encourage self-confidence, response, fun, creativity, and co-ordination.
