Workshops
SYA offer West African Dance and Drumming workshops from professional artists in the UK and The Gambia.
Workshops and classes welcome all levels and offer an opportunity for participants to learn and develop
skills of authentic traditional dance and drumming.
We provide workshops and courses in Djembe/Sabar Wolof Drumming and Djembe/Sabar Wolof Dance.
Our dance and drumming activities include:

community projects
corporate entertainment

SYA are now available for bookings and are now teaching dance and drumming workshops across the UK.
Dance Classes
SYA supply classes in both Malinke(djembe) and Sabar Wolof Dance. Classes in West African Dance are aimed at all levels and are accompanied with live drumming. Step-by-step tuition helps improve skills, co-ordination and experience the unity of group dance. Our teachers are enthusiastic and deliver energetic, vibrant choreographed dance routines.

Activity - West African Djembe Dance
When - Sundays, 2.00 - 3.45 pm, every 2 weeks

Drumming Classes
SYA are now offering classes in both Djembe and Sabar Wolof Drumming.
Come and improve your technique and enjoy learning traditional drumming rhythms.
Classes are available to all levels and include an introduction to the drum followed by
technique, sounds and rhythms.

Performances
SYA are available for performances and demonstrations which integrate authentic styles of
West African Dance and Percussion. The group consists of artists from The Gambia, Senegal,
Guinea and The UK who create a performance of music and dance rich and full of the flavour
of African culture and tradition.
